Iceland
Getting ready to visit a country like Iceland is not always an easy task. Zemia Media recommends using the following services for preparing your trip to this wonderful country, where ice meets fire:
- Vatnajökull National Park, is the most important protected area in Iceland, the largest ice cap outside the polar regions, a center of weather creation for Western Europe, that has even dangerous hidden volcanos.
- Thingvellir National Park, the wonderful Icelandic heritage site where you can stand in the American side of the Mid Atlantic Ridge and look how Europe separates at a rate of 10 cm a year, still hundreds of metres away from you.
- Gesthus in Selfoss, Southern Iceland, the ideal base for excursions to the most interesting places in the Southwestern part of the country, like Geysir, Gullfoss, Thingvellir, Vestmannaeyjar, Hekla Volcano...
- Hotel Nupur, situated in the Westfjords, it makes it possible for you to reach unreal landscapes, such as Latrabjarg cliffs, the Rauðasandur beaches, and small towns or just isolated villas in the middle of a fjord.
- Gentle Giants, provides you with the ultimate experience for wildlife lovers. From its base in husavik, in northern Iceland, they offer whalewatching tours, and they promiss that in 98% of the trips you will see something, even if it's not a huge blue whale.
- The Blue Lagoon is a place where you can enjoy a bath in hot water, thermal springs heated by the earth with a certain amount of silica and other minerals that help regenerate your skin. The facility can even be used in the winter, being warm inside the water while on your head is snowing is quite an experience.
- Saga Car Rental, the first thing you may need when approaching this country, is to rent a car. It is truly the only satisfactory way to visit the many natural attractions scattered over an island that is bigger than what it looks on the map. Don't underestimate distances, keep in mind that many of the interesting roads are dirt roads and maximum speed is 70 km/h to stay safe. Buses are rare in the countryside and there are no railways in Iceland. And what is better than using a company named Saga? That sounds really Icelandic.
- Ytra Lón, a hostel on the edge of the world, closer to birds than to human civilization, this is the kind of place where you can look for space and loneliness, if the busy modern life is grating on your nerves.
